Mortasheen - Barbaletch

Description

"Devil Bird of Delusion"

CLASS: DEVIL BIRD

Hatched from the egg of an Envy and Greed, the Barbaletch appears to consist entirely of legs and talons, its brain tissue coiled within its spindly limbs. A psychic distortion field ensures that most sentient beings will perceive the Barbaletch inaccurately in almost every way; its location, size, number, movement and sometimes even species all appear - even to the olfactory senses - randomly contrary to reality, differing with the perception of one individual to the next.

A Barbaletch feeds by clinging to confused prey and draining body fluids for extended periods of time, during which the victim perceives more and more of its surroundings incorrectly. These delusions are virtually always extremely pleasant, bending to whatever imaginary situation the victim would personally desire. The more fluids lost, the deeper the host falls into a dreamworld with utterly no recollection of reality.

-------------------STUFF-------------

There are now going to be sixteen devil birds in total. Seven basic, seven advanced, one "ultimate" (Diablymous) and one "defect" (Phasmoria). I've updated the descriptions of Gloomsday, Diablymous and Bonnagander to reflect how the birds work, as well as the description of Wrath to distinguish it from some of the new ones.

I had doubts about how this one was turning out, but am now incredibly satisfied with its weirdness and scaliness, even if I screwed up their placement a few times. I did NOT intend for it to look sort of like a grimacing face, but once it hit me, it's all I can see in its coils.
