This is what Republicans actually believeI originally posted this to tumblr and it went over nicely, but as more and more developments piss me off I feel the need to expand it and put it someplace more permanent.
Some of you, even some of my best friends, disagree with most or all of the following list and still identify yourselves as "republicans" or "conservatives." I just have to ask…why? Why keep clinging to labels so inexorably entrenched in discrimination, willful ignorance and outrageous displays of villainy straight out of a derivative cartoon? The majority of so-called "right wing" Americans, including virtually all of those with any political or social power, very vocally hold at least one of the following sentiments. I've included links to a few, in case you start to doubt that real people could ever actually say things like these:

I don't think people realize how serious a problem these types are. They're tolerated all over DA under the notion that what they choose to believe and express deserves the same freedom as what everyone else believes and expresses, which is like saying that a murderer or a rapist deserve to be "tolerated" for their own cruel and harmful choices.
These people whine that they're being oppressed, that they're being met with intolerance, that their rights are being infringed when they're silenced, as if it somehow doesn't matter that

a thought on ask tumblrs...I'm actually surprised that they don't bother me much. I saw them go from roleplay with mane 6 to bg to oc, and assumed that I'd get really fucking tired of them.
Not so, but that's because the ones I know are done by genuinely talented artists with respect for their characters and usually a pretty good sense of humor about it all.
But there's one that gives me pause. And no, its not :iconcrookedtrees:'s Ask Pinkamina tumblr. It definitely gets a little weird, but he's a very good artist and he does retain a sort of levity even when he's pitch black.
No, my problem is with Ask Lil Miss Rarity (http://ask-lil-miss-rarity.tumblr.com/ VERY NSFW). My problem isn't that it seems to be a fairly blatant ripoff of Ask Pinkamina, using both the camera motif and the art style. Or that the art is significantly flatter and more lifeless than that of trees. My issue is with the content.

You know what I'm sick of? People who think "freedom of speech" means that if they say something bigoted, disgusting and factually incorrect, it means that nobody has the right to call them out on it.

We do, and we should. It's our own freedom of speech to let bigots know that they won't be tolerated any more than they're willing to tolerate others.

What I'm really posting for is just to remind you that it is ALWAYS OKAY to fight back against this shit. When you see statements that are obviously prejudiced, you can and should REPORT THEM. Deviantart doesn't care and doesn't do anything about it, but it feels good! It is also your right to tell them exactly what you think of their ignorant views. Never feel like it's wrong to show the intolerant some intolerance of your own. When they cast the first stone, they deserve the avalanche.
