This time, instead of a mythological being, we're going to reinterpret something from nature!

Here's a video of snails infected by the parasite Leucochloridium paradoxum, which turns their eyestalks into colorfully striped lures to attract birds:

This parasite has always been one of my favorite animals and more or less the "mascot" of my website. The article in which I discuss it [link] is also my most heavily trafficked, or WAS, until the parasite was later included in a cracked.com article. I have no hope of earning back the hits from such a BIG POTATOES website, but one thing I can do is give Leucochloridium a more unique place on my site.

I want YOUSE to create artwork of this parasite in any manner with any twist you can think of. Draw an anthropomorphic, cartoonified or abstracted version of an infected snail, illustrate some other animal infested with the parasite, make an infected snail sculpture or stuffed toy, absolutely anything!

Send whatever you create to bogleech@hotmail.com or post it here by JULY 10th for inclusion in a gallery on bogleech.com!

UPDATED TO REMIND ALL MY WATCHERS! At the time of this writing I have been sent around seven submissions, nowhere near even slightly enough for this far in! If you can't think of anything else, go with the "anthropomorphic" zombie snail, since originally this was going to be the entire theme of the gallery but I felt like leaving it more open!

I think I may have a rather strange sense of humor, but I had to draw it cute, I really did, and throw in Cordyceps too, because, I dunno, it seemed RIGHT... in a wrong kind of way:

I don't really know if this works for your gallery, but if you like it, you're more then welcome to use it.

Two views of the same sculpture: [link] and [link]
I hope you like them; as far as I know, mine's the only sculpture ever submitted for one of these things.
