I don't really expect the internet to be any help since the majority of people have these sorts of problems, but I spent most of the past two years without work, living just barely off unemployment checks, applying for every imaginable job (Wal Mart, Taco Bell, Gas Stations, Banks, Hospitals, EVERYTHING) and getting no responses no matter my efforts to get their attention.

The very week my unemployment ran out for good, I wound up with a job doing phone surveys...which pays less than I was making on the unemployment. My only guaranteed income right now is around $180-250 a month, and I live with a friend splitting the upkeep to an entire house.

I'd do virtually anything to make money right now, but I don't know if I can possibly do it through art. I know some web design, I type 90 WPM, there has to be something clerical I can do but thus far nobody pays attention to my applications.

the "lol" says it all :p

I think it's one of the worst decisions a person can make, but then, I hate guns and war and everything about how our government functions. I'd have been a proud deserter in the old days.

I actually had an idea that might help you out. You see, my mother is very much in the same boat as you. She is unemployed and unable to get hired anywhere, but yet she still manages to survive, even thrive. WHy? BEcause she sells at the swap meet, buying up items at places like Goodwill or the Salvation Army to resell. I was thinking that you could do tyhat to survive. But you could also harness your skill to make money there through selling monster art. Now, I havew seen quite a few artists and craftsmen at the Swap Meet, and I think that your stuff would probably sell very well, due to the fact that probably nobody else is selling monster art around there.

So, what do you think of that idea? Hopefully it's able to help.

You and I, sir, are in the same boat somewhat. And a very leaky boat it is.

No advice --- I've never been in a real job. I can probably put in money for commissions soon, though.

However, seeing as you may not be able to do the Halloween thing this year, I can contribute photos of Halloween oddities for Bogleech :<

Now that I had some money come in, I'd like to follow up on our previous discussion about commissioning a design for t-shirts or other products for my blog t

Also, it may be unwelcome advice, but there are often state-run programs that give free food, like Food Net in Lincoln: [link] . Depending on the state you live in, there may or may not be programs like this. Just one less thing to pay for, perhaps.

I'm on food stamps at least, though only about 90 a month, which always runs out faster than I thought it would!

I have faith you will pull though. I have a similar situation yet you just gotta keep on going!
