Description

Wormroot (zombie tree) : a zombie that has reconstituted itself through the tree that took root in its remains. Young wormroots make excellent agents for the experienced zombie master, though they must be trimmed regularly if mobility is desired. Otherwise, they grow until their own weight forces them to take permanent root. The jaws of a stationary wormroot eventually migrate down the trunk until buried while the root system spreads out in a sensitive web that "sucks" prey underground and into the mouth. With all of its eyes closed, it is almost indistinguishable from a normal tree - but suffers from maggots and carrion beetles rather than termites or other plant pests.

Crepusculent (psychadelic phantom) : originally created to aid in the rituals of an insanity cult, the Crepusculent's wholly alien mentality can make it difficult to train as a minion but it is generally only created for its highly prized "brain worms". Literally the creature's brain, these multi-colored, edible "worms" multiply constantly within its body but wriggle free and die in a matter of seconds. When consumed live, they have intense hallucinogenic effects accompanied by psychic power greater than that of any natural psionicist. Both effects are temporary, but the user may be left with amnesia that persists for weeks. The Crepusculent's surface resembles bone, but glows a silvery blue in the dark. It floats only backwards, and clicks its jaw rhythmically.

Drainwave (dimensional horror) : this entity originates from beyond conventional reality, where it exists only as formless nuclear energy but can enter the physical realm through any psychically active mind, always manifesting the same bizarre, floating form. Able to pass through solid matter, it can see only the brainwaves of other thinking beings and will home in on the strongest in a straight line from hundreds of miles away. Only when the prey meets its gaze can the feeding begin, as the victim's intelligence, memories, feelings and entire personality is gradually drained away and "digested" by the Drainwave's consciousness - transformed into whatever alien processes pass for its intelligence. In combat, its twin stingers can deliver a powerful acid. It communicates by whistling.

Will O' Bog (sugar vampire) : nicknamed for its diet rather than any genuine link to vampirism, this lesser extradimensional entity glows a vivid pinkish-orange that intensifies as it feeds. Grappling live prey in its prehensile, claw-tipped trunk, it extrudes a pair of sharp, hollow tubes from its toothless mouth and proceeds to circulate the victim's blood through a small filtration organ, keeping nothing for itself but the precious sugar. Unless starving, it leaves enough sugar for the prey to survive - but only barely. If set free in conventional reality, it seeks out dark and damp environments such as swamps or sewers, and is known for its hooting cry. Its body is constantly fading in and out of visibility, but not its massive, glistening yellow eyes.

Gloomsday (devil bird) : this tall, nearly boneless creation is considered a more advanced variation on the Bonnagander and Diablymous, but with far greater intelligence and positively nothing resembling emotion. Unlike its precursors, it is nourished solely on the emotions of sadness and guilt, invading the minds of others and dredging up their deepest sorrows. As it feeds, it uncontrollably repeats random dialog from the victim's past, speaking in stereo through its hollow shoulders. Its skin is black as coal, oily and ice cold to the touch, with a smell not unlike burned rubber. It moves surprisingly fast with a short, frantic shuffling, swaying its head from side to side as it scans for nearby minds to attack.

An undead tree? I love your ideas... do you ever write stories about these odd creations of yours? I can easily imagine you trying to be a horror writer of some sort.
