"Ragworm Ghost"

Also known as a wormbunny, wormbaby or rot-owl, most of this undulating, hooting monster consists of over a thousand detachable, vermiform sub-bodies connected by a fine root network in a single squirming, spongelike colony, each with its own set of needle-sharp, retractable jaws. Its massive, conjoined eyes, capable of literal X-ray vision, are its true control center and can freely detach from the collective in an emergency. If unable to reconnect with enough of its worms, the eye-core will cocoon itself in mucus and slowly generate a new colony.

Though it prefers scavenging to hunting, a Wormonia can be lethal to even the largest aggressor, scattering flesh-hungry worms as necessary until even one drills a route to vital organs. It exhibits unprovoked aggression only for the opportunity to feast on Zombie Spawn, and many Wormonia can be found prowling the Corpse Sea in search of the rare creatures.

This probably has more inspirations at once than any other monster I’ve ever done. Things that crossed my mind while I designed it include Pac-man ghosts, dumbo octopuses, owls, Hedorah, Princess Mononoke, Tangela, Fry Guys, and Pol’s Voice from the original Legend of Zelda.

It’s a worm-bunny-owl-blob that eats zombie babies and can break apart!
