This flattened humanoid's scabrous mantle is a breeding ground for thousands of pea-sized, flesh eating arachnids similar to mange mites. Though the Scabberant suffers only a mild tickle, its parasites are constantly deforming and scarring its hide as they feed. Quite skittish, it will send the ravenous mites pouring from its body at the slightest sign of danger, and may attempt to wrap around an attacker's face when cornered.

From its appearance and the description, this creature comes across to me as a cross between a humanoid creature, a pizza, a small coral reef, a face-hugger, and an anthill. (With flesh-eating arachnids being substituted for ants.)
