Mortasheen - Dolfury by scythemantis Mortasheen - Dolfury by scythemantis
"Slaughtering Cackler"

CLASS: BIOCONSTRUCT

This humanoid hybrid was engineered by a great Octopire countess to serve as powerful watchmen over her human livestock. Unfortunately, combining the intelligence and cruelty of both hominid and delfinid resulted in a breed of cruel, perverse abominations with dangerously limited attention spans. The Dolfuries quickly proved the greatest danger to their own wards, submitting to dark temptations even their vampiric creator found unacceptably abusive. As the grotesque incidents grew more frequent and the transparent excuses more absurd, their mistress took increasingly extreme disciplinary measures which only seemed to excite the twisted mutants even further. When at last she attempted to destroy them, a single female narrowly escaped the Octopire's abyssal palace with developing offspring, and the monstrosities have thrived for centuries since.

Though mentally and biologically unstable, these half-dolphin sadists are as tenacious as they are destructive, defiling cetaceans and humanoids alike with their deadly parasitoid reproductive habits and easily adapting to extremes of temperature and pollution. They are popularly regarded as one of the only truly "evil" monsters ever created, and many attempts have been made to annihilate them.

Besides its incredible strength, a Dolfury's sonic tittering can cause intolerable pain and even tissue damage in complex beings. Dolfury are regarded in poor taste as minions, but heavy psychosurgery and behavioral drugs can moderately suppress nearly half of their depraved urges.

-----

So really, no different from an actual dolphin, it just has legs.

I imagine them acting like the Reavers from Firefly, basically running around and murdering/raping random things for little reason

hey, it is possible to replace a dolfurys brain with a robotbrain or a outer brain to get a more
obedience killing machine?

sure, but disobedient killing machines have their advantages too; sometimes you can use just a raging berserker.

A question, but is this the Mortasheen equivalent to Orcs, I.E. a very strong Always Chaotic Evil race?

That's a weirdly specific question. 0o
They're more like an always chaotic evil aberration. They wouldn't fashion weapons or organize with one another like orcs, they're just wild bloodthirsty beasts, and kinda rare.

Mortasheen already has a race of orc-like humanoids I've mentioned, but not drawn yet. I haven't really drawn any of the "races" who train and use all the monsters, since I'm saving them for a special project and will probably have other people draw them when the time comes.

I love how, if you only look at the top part of the picture, it almost looks like a normal dolphin... then you scroll down and see the rest of its body.

Awesome job playing off the darker aspects of an animal most people think of as cute and cuddly and adowable... then again one of my favorite things aobut nature is how pretty much any cute animal can be made to sound horrifying if you try hard enough :D

@__@ After I read up on real dolphins' "reproductive habits", and then read about this thing, it has be the single most scary thing I've seen today. Good job.

I imaged this in two other ways, both seemed kind of awesome. One was enhanced with mechanical junk, like Echo from that damn game where you're a damn dolphin. Or two wearing different under sea creatures as armor, etc. Both seemed completely awesome. I like the idea of this creature quite a bit, given the fact that it's not really different from the creature it's based on. You're just increasing the scary factor of what they are already capable of.

I thought the exact same thing, haha. Awesome drawing Scythe'; also from far away it's tubular head looked like a Mass-Produced Eva which is always a good thing~

The thing I loved about this one is that I think you described exactly what kind of creature a dolphin/human hybrid would be like.

Who thought it was a good Idea to combine the only two creatures on earth that have been shown to be both racist and perverted?

It's kinda funny how people will go on about how no animals besides humans rape and murder each other, and then point out dolphins as one of the most "innocent" animals in existence.

The fairly normal dolphin head on the distorted humanoid body gives Dolfury a suitably disturbing look.

Even when people find out about the anti-social tendencies of dolphins they seem to just paper over it and pretend they're the cherubs of the sea, and for that reason I quite dislike dolphins.

That said it makes it perfect for mortasheen and you seem to have carved them quite a niche and they stand out quite uniquely.
