Originally designed as the perfect "babysitter," the Despire can calm unruly children or terrify would-be predators with a psychic field that reverses the emotions of others, twisting positive feelings to negative or vice-versa as the situation warrants. Attackers may find themselves only giggling as the monster slices into them with its retractable bone-blades, usually aiming for the belly or groin. Such a unique power is equally applicable to active combat, turning the enemy forces against one another or even helping maintain trust between allies.
Most of a Despire's body is extremely soft and squishy, its rudimentary skeleton composed mostly of soft cartilage under a thick, spongy skin.
