Mortasheen - Depraven by scythemantis Mortasheen - Depraven by scythemantis
"The Violator"

CLASS: BIOCONSTRUCT

This reviled hermaphroditic monster lusts for any chance to plunge its twin reproductive "stingers" into a living host, one injecting a single spermatozoon and the other a single egg cell. Though the original body will perish shortly thereafter, its seed will almost inevitably locate its egg and begin development of a new body, retaining the parent's complete memory and personality with some fragments of the host's mind. Hosts immediately begin to behave erratically, turning on associates or even injuring themselves as the embryo grows, maturing in only 22 hours and tearing free from the host, sometimes fatally. Rarely, the parasite may split into identical twins or triplets, though only one will remember its previous life. Feral Depraven may organize into flocks or "ravages" endlessly parasitizing one another for their mutual survival and enjoyment.

Depraven learn to speak most languages quite fluently over their many lives, but have little to say that isn't licentious, insensitive or misanthropic; they get a petty thrill out of negative attention, and feel an obsessive need to emotionally agitate a victim before parasitic assault. More often than not, a Depraven can be completely repelled by simply ignoring the lewd insults and offensive jokes it takes such pride in.

Depraven adore alcoholic beverages, but handle them poorly.

yeah, I threw that in as a last minute reference, though the rest of their behavior is based on Reddit trolls

e_e rapecrows.
I wonder what sort of masochistic scientist would create something like this? There is already enough rape monsters in Mortasheen.

when they parasitize one another, isn't the one parasitized now dead eventually making all ravages nothing more then one depraven?

Were you inspired the mating habits of ducks? (Male ducks being crazed rapists with huge genitals)

I like the idea that it appears to be a (mostly) ordinary-looking raven when the genitals are retracted. And the way they endlessly parasitize one another in the wild. I keep picturing just a big, monstrous mound of wet, screeching birds and veiny, throbbing tentacles writhing around in the middle of a cornfield (I picture this happening in a cornfield for some reason. Possibly because of the crow motif, or possibly because I used to have a cornfield in my backyard as a kid and those things can be just dang creepy).

I first thought of Edgar Allan Poe when I read the description, mainly due to "DepRAVEN" and the whole bit about handling alcoholic beverages poorly.

This one is beautifully disgusting. I love it. :D Plus, there's always something about bird monsters in particular I always find uniquely creepy...

That second paragraph pretty much describes half the internet.

My favorite part is how they INSULT YOU before they rape you with bird-baby-chestbursters. All the love is gone.

I adore the name, and the design! Battles with them would be kind of interesting, though. You could probably only attack with it once every 22 hours :P

It was conceived as one actually, before I decided that all the Wormbrains would be human-like!

Oh my dear lord it is Rapecrow.

By the way, do you have an in-universe explaination why whatever scientist made this in the Mortasheen world feel the need to make this? Because I can't think of any uses a rapecrow would have that don't suggest that the maker was anything but hideously evil, even for battling it's abilities seem a bit limited.

It'd make a nice biological terror weapon :D

Nobody in Mortasheen is really evil, or takes anything seriously enough to have a concept of good/evil.

This is so perfectly repulsive I actually, for a split second thought I smelled something nasty while looking at it. This is one of my new favorite things.

This really looks unlike any Mortasheen that has come before, yet still it oozes Mortasheen-ness.

Very unearthly, and the appendages are very lifelike. I'm reminded of H. R. Giger. The extra joints are a nice touch, but the legs still seem kinda out-of-place to me. I feel like some further weirdness should have been grafted onto the legs to bring them in line with the other appendages. But, like any of my criticisms, you can take it or leave it. Basically, this is another creative and cool-looking Mortasheen.

I'm gonna be busy for the next couple weeks, so don't be offended if I don't comment on any of your deviations for a while.

The legs are necessary since I think of it as looking like a fairly ordinary bird (besides the huge buggy eyes) when it retracts its reproductive organs.
