Arthropods and parasites have been my two favorite topics since I was damn near a baby, yet it somehow escaped me until only days ago that a lot of ticks have eyes. It's not mentioned in any book I have! Eyes located more or less where I've drawn them here.
I've also included the mysterious "porose areas," two dense patches of pits above the female's mouth parts which serve some vague sensory function.
We can also see one of her Haller's organ, a bristle-lined hole on each of the front most legs which could be considered the "noses" of a tick.
