Alive by scythemantis Alive by scythemantis
COMMENT HERE: (scroll down) [link]

Please let me know if this exact, identical joke has been done. Robots coming to life isn't unheard of, but I've only seen it done in a "serious" context where the end result still looked mechanical, or looked like a normal human.

The Robot from Flubber or Batteries not Included?
Robby of course, and Johnny Five :)

There's been a lot of little UFO-shaped robots, though Batteries not Included had my favorite designs among them.

I think you confused alive, with organic.

Actually "organic" can apply to a wide range of things that contain carbon, including gasoline for instance, while "alive" usually refers to biological organisms but could, in theory, apply to mechanical or chemical things that behave as organisms.

Neither is a black and white concept but "alive" works best for the punchline here because of so many robots in movies wishing they were "alive." :p

I wonder what their first meal will be? Humans? Cute forest animals? Apples?

Wow, I like the concept. Way to think outside of the box of the whole 'robot want's to be living' story. The robots never said they wanted to be human just life so that's exactly what they got.

The "Leave a Comment" thing on your blog didn't really work for me. I click it and nothing happens. Oh well, I can always comment here I guess... but yeh... love the whole ideas of robots becoming pulsating monsters. Great stuff!

It's takes me to identical page, but no comment field. Although there is some kind of message saying who provides the comment thing. Just no where to write them in.

The closest thing to this I can think of is of a fairy turning a dildo into a living, detached penis in Sexy Losers. As awesomely warped and funny as that was, you've topped it.

This is the sort of thing I always seriously pictured as a kid when robots said they wanted to be alive :p

In most media it's because they want to fit in with human society...

Generic toys just use stock art vaguely pertaining to their subject, his presence wouldn't mean there's an actual silverfish toy. Never seen one :C

I saw one where the machine ended up as a kind of hybrid of doctor Manhattan and a gorilla.

I believe it was an episode of something on saturday mornings called captain simian and the space monkeys.

I recall it being entertaining and having some fun episodes but that was a long time ago.
